HISTORY OF DSAA

The Down Syndrome Association of Acadiana (DSAA) was organized in April 2004 by a small group of mothers, each of whom had a child with Down syndrome.  This group of mothers met informally for several months before determining there was a need in the Acadiana area for an organized parent-to-parent support group for families of children with Down syndrome.  Our first fundraiser was very successful and allowed our organization to publish a newsletter, establish a lending library, and print a DSAA brochure with the basic facts regarding Down syndrome and DSAA.

Founding Sponsor:

We are thankful for the constant support and encouragement of our founding sponsor, Paul D. Gibson, which allows us to continue to fulfill our commitment to Acadiana.
