iCan Swim Camp

iCan Shine Swim Camp!

DSAA is extremely excited to announce that we have partnered with iCan Shine, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to provide quality learning opportunities in recreational activities for all individuals with special needs and Lafayette Parks and Recreation, to host our first ever SWIM CAMP April 15 - 19, 2019 at the Robichaux Center at 1919 Eraste Landry Road in Lafayette, LA.

Sessions are as follows:

Session #1: 9:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. (3-7 year olds)
Session #2: 10:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. (8-12 year olds)
Session #3: 12:15 p.m. - 1:15 p.m. (8 - 12 year olds)
Session #4: 2:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. (3-7 year olds)
Session #5: 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (13 years old and above)

Requirements for Participation (Swimmer must meet all of below criteria): 
· Minimum age - 3 years old 
· Have a diagnosed disability 
· Able to attend camp all 5 days

Dropping-off Swimmers at the program is not permitted. A parent, legal guardian or other adult authorized to take responsibility for the Swimmer must remain on site for the duration of the specific swim session.

Once your Swimmer is registered, we will contact you to provide you with detailed information you will need for Swim Camp.

Volunteer Opportunity!

We need volunteers to assist with Swimmers!!

We have multiple sessions and times to choose from. (See Session times above).  We would like for volunteers to be available for the same session each day for the entire week.

You must at least 15 years old to work alongside the participant and provide physical and emotional support. You should be physically fit and be comfortable assisting another person in the water. We need 1 volunteer per swimmer. Each volunteer will be assigned to work with the same Swimmer all week.
